Be prepared to fall in love with the beauty of freshwater streams emanating from the mountains that oversee the soft-sand extra-wide beaches below. You will be crossing them as you walk down the beach while watching amazing live-action surfing. This tip of the Nicoya Peninsula is surrounded on two sides by the Pacific Ocean that provides amazing year-round cool breezes and offers warm sea water.

If dipping in balmy water and taking beach walks where anyone that you come across will smile at you is not enough, you can enjoy Caribbean-style beaches an easy half-an-hour drive away in the Town of Montezuma. While there, don’t miss the Montezuma Waterfalls where you can experience the rush of water on your body.

Food, Drinks, and Entertainment

Santa Teresa is also a foody destination. A few steps from our hotel on the beach you will find El Carmen Restaurant and Beach Club, a great place to enjoy the famous sunsets of Santa Teresa, accompanied by music that often includes presentations by live artists from the area. Our guests enjoy a 10% discount on liquor and food consumption beginning from 6:30 pm. Ask for the coupon at our reception. You don’t want to miss it!

The hotel is a short distance from the best restaurants in Santa Teresa. These include The Bakery Café with the best cappuccinos, delicious breakfasts and lunches inspired by organic Israeli food that nourishes the spirit; the Katana Restaurant that offers Mediterranean fusion food and cocktails from out of this world; Koji’s Restaurant that serves a spectacular Asian fusion experience, and the Pronto Piccola Italia Restaurant & Bar which serves fantastic fresh salads and pastas including the best pizza in town and a great Tiki Hut-style bar in the courtyard surrounded by fine shopping. Our front desk can coordinate reservations for you by sending a message to our WhatsApp at +506 8925 0404 before your arrival (which is highly recommended since restaurants fill up early during the high season). Below you will find the links that take you to the Instagrams of each outlet.

In addition, on the main road you will also find two fantastic Sushi restaurants, the Burger Rancho that serves one of the best hamburgers you will eat in your life, and Argentine restaurants of delicious meats. There are also many Costa Rican food restaurants (“sodas” as they are known) to choose from. All these places only offer outdoor seating except for Pronto that provides indoor dining and offers a fantastic tropical bar in the patio.

The beach scene is complemented by access to Beach Clubs, such as the Banana Beach Club, located less than a mile by the beach from the hotel. Don’t miss it!

Access to the Hotel

The Santa Teresa area is amazingly easy to access. After landing in San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) by any of the world’s major airlines and walking for three minutes to the Domestic Terminal, you will board one of two internationally-rated airlines which fly Cessna’s 12-seater Caravan turboprop workhorses that will zip you to Tambor Airport and which is just a 22 minute ride away.

We recommend you fly our travel partner Green Airways (www.costaricagreenair.com) which has all new planes and a robust customer service. Its competitor Sansa Airlines (www.flysansa.com) has over five decades of spotless flying in Costa Rica. Combining both airlines there are over 14 daily flights each way during the high season and the frequency drops somewhat in the off-season.

While in the air, catch some of the most amazing views of beaches and keys you’ve seen including the Tortuga Island which is accessible for a boat-ride lunch tour. We hope you also spot the bioluminescent beach on one side of the airplane and the expansive waters of the Gulf of Nicoya out the other window, which hosts whale migrations twice a year as they visit the area to breed in warmer waters.

Finally, at the Tambor airport you can either rent a Budget car or take a $60 cab for a 30 minute scenic ride into town. If you want to catch a private ride, please use Pantera Taxi which can be reached via WhatsApp or telephone at +506 8591 9555 to arrange for pick-up in advance. Once you’re in the hotel you don’t need a car to experience the area. Be mindful that walking down the only main road through the town during “rush hour” can be tricky, so make sure to ask for a cab using the WhatsApp for Pantera or at our front desk.
