For those of you who are not as fond of the surf, wait for low tide and explore the tide pools. Wade in shallow waters, relax, and observe sea life. The tide pools form in areas that are dense with rocks, all along the entire coastline: Playa Carmen, Malpais, Santa Teresa, and Hermosa Beach.
Children tend to love the tide pools for the shallow water, gentle current, and small waves. They also get to see pelicans and fish up close. Low tide along the Nicoya Peninsula is like a playground. Adults love it too!
